Knicks Go All Alone in Final Classic Prep

Leading older horse KNICKS GO (h, 5, Paynter–Kosmo's Buddy, by Outflanker) continued his march towards the GI Breeders' Cup Classic Saturday as he scored his third straight in the GIII Lukas Classic S. at Churchill Downs. Having returned to his best form when airing in the GIII Cornhusker H. at Prairie Meadows in July with a gaudy 113 Beyer Speed Figure, the grey was coming off another dominant tally in Saratoga's GI Whitney S. Aug. 7. Backed at 1-9 for what appeared more or less a formality, Knicks Go cleared off into the first turn, doled out splits of :23.53 and :47.27 and cruised home in the stretch despite his usual drifting. He stopped the clock in 1:47.85 with Independence Hall (Constitution) a few lengths back in second.
