L and N Racing and Winchell Thoroughbreds' Echo Zulu (f, 2, Gun Runner–Letgomyecho, by Menifee) took her record to a perfect three-for-three with a romping 10-length victory in the GI Frizette S. at Belmont Park Sunday. Sent off the 1-5 favorite, the bay filly stepped right out to the early lead and was tracked by Gerrymander (Into Mischief) through fractions of :22.38 and :45.98. She skipped clear in upper stretch and extended her advantage down the lane before rolling under the wire under wraps, completing the mile in 1:35.12. Gerrymander was second and A Mo Reay (Uncle Mo) was third.
The Frizette is a Win and You're in race, awarding Echo Zulu an automatic berth in the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies.
Echo Zulu was tabbed a 'TDN Rising Star' after her 5 1/2-length debut victory going 5 1/2 furlongs at Saratoga July 15. She was a four-length victoress of the Sept. 5 GI Spinaway S. last time out.
Lifetime Record: 3-3-0-0. O-L and N Racing LLC & Winchell Thoroughbreds. B-Betz/J Betz/CHNNHK/Magers, et all (Ky). T-Steve Asmussen.
