Steve Telfer has been in the most enviable position again trainer can be in before: knowing he can’t lose the last race at Alexandra Park tomorrow night.

While it is a rarity for any trainer to have the entire field in a race Telfer and his sister and training partner Amanda have all seven starters in the $20,000 last race at Alexandra Park tomorrow night.

The market will be dominated by high class three-year-olds B D Joe and Alta Wiseguy and while Telfer says one of the pair should win seeing the Stonewall Stud colours on the entire field won’t be the first time for Telfer.

The stable had all six starters in a 1700m race at Cambridge on January 12, 2018 which included former open class star Triple Eight and current open classer Dance Time, who contests tomorrow’s Spring Cup.

But it was won by then three-year-old American Brave.

“I remember the race well obviously and it was quite a thrill having the whole field,” says Telfer.

“So doing it with seven will keep us busy tomorrow night.” So who wins?

“I think the two class ones, B D Joe and Alta Wiseguy, will get across them and lead and trail.

“Maybe for this week Alta Wiseguy is just a little bit fitter and therefore sharper so I will go him narrowly over B D Joe,” says Telfer.

Regardless of the result Alta Wiseguy will head south to race at Addington for the next month but B D Joe may stay in the north with his long-term aim the Sydney features after Christmas.

The start will be crucial for Dance Time in the Spring Cup while Telfer suggests punters keep an eye on Matt Major (R2, No.8) who debuts in a tough field but is better than maiden grade heading forward.
