Dismissed at odds of 12-1 and the lesser-preferred half of an uncoupled entry with defending champ Ivar (Brz) (Agnes Gold {Jpn}), IN LOVE (BRZ) (g, 5, Agnes Gold {Jpn}–Last Bet {Brz}, by Know Heights {Ire}) finished with a flourish to give his connections a second straight victory in the GI Keeneland Turf Mile and a berth in the GI Breeders' Cup Mile at Del Mar Nov. 6. Settled in a midfield seventh and a spot or two behind a tugging Ivar as longshot Brown Storm (Chi) (Scat Daddy) cut out the running, In Love, last-out winner of the TVG S. at Kentucky Downs, was quietly ridden on the turn by Alex Achard, having his first mount in a Grade I race. Traveling extremely kindly nearing the stretch, he was eased off the heels of Ivar and into the clear and shaded :23 seconds for his final quarter mile to cause the upset. One-time claimer Tell Your Daddy (Scat Daddy), exiting a front-running victory in the GII Bernard Baruch H. Sept. 6 at Saratoga, ran on gamely for second just ahead of Somelikeithotbrown (Big Brown) in third. Reigning GI Breeders' Cup Mile hero Order of Australia (GB) (Australia {GB}) raced outside of Ivar for the opening five furlongs, but was under pressure three furlongs down and trailed in. In Love is nominated to the Breeders' Cup and trainer Paolo Lobo seemed to indicate Ivar would benefit from the return effort and would proceed to Del Mar.
