Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted October 10, 2021 Journalists Posted October 10, 2021 Jump Sucker Stables' Slipstream (2, c, More Than Ready–Cake Baby, by Stormy Atlantic), sent off a well-backed 2-1 chance, went from last to first in Sunday's GIII Futurity S. at Belmont Park. Despite earning an expenses-paid berth for the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint Nov. 5, the juvenile's connections indicated after the race that the 1 1/16-mile GI BC Juvenile Turf was the more likely spot for the colt's return. Stumbling at the start, the dark bay recovered adeptly, but still found himself at the back of the field through a :22.39 quarter. Gaining ground leaving the backstretch, he continued to pick off horses up the inside passing the quarter pole. Narrowing the gap between himself and the front-running Run Curtis Run (Summer Front) through the stretch, he caught his rival late and was one-length in front at the wire. Run Curtis Run finished second over Biz Biz Buzz (Fed Biz). Final time for the six furlong test was 1:08.36. Lifetime Record: 4-2-0-1, $155,100. Third in his second start in an off-turf sprint at the Spa July 30, Slipstream bounced back to score impressively going seven panels over the Belmont turf Sept. 18.
