Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted July 14, 2018 Journalists Share Posted July 14, 2018 MGSW Gunnevera (Dialed In) fired a five-furlong bullet in 1:00 flat (1/16) at Gulfstream Park West Saturday morning as he prepares for a first start since exiting an eighth-place finish in the Mar. 31 GI Dubai World Cup with a hoof injury. “The horse worked very well,” trainer Antonio Sano said. “He went :23, :36, :48 1/5, and five furlongs in a minute flat.” The near $3-million earner had been freshened in Ocala for two months before returning to Sano’s stable. Saturday’s spin was his fourth since getting back into serious training. Gunnevera is expected to use a race at Gulfstream some time next month as a springboard to the Sept. 1 GI Woodward S. at Saratoga. A graded winner at two and three, Gunnevera was second in last year’s GI Travers S. and third in the lucrative GI Pegasus World Cup Invitational S. this January. “I’ve never had a horse like him before in my life,” said Sano. “I don’t have the words to say how great Gunnevera has been for me and my family. I am very proud of what he has accomplished. To run in the Kentucky Derby, the Breeders’ Cup, the Pegasus and then Dubai, it’s been amazing.” View the full article
