McAuley House Services for Women was presented with a $14,022 donation today courtesy of GRV’s annual Chase for Charity fundraiser.

GRV Chair Peita Duncan was a guest on 1116 SEN’s Off The Bench radio show this morning to present the money to McAuley House’s Head of Advocacy, Fundraising & Marketing, Felicity Pringle.

McAuley House provides support to women and their children experiencing family violence, and Felicity said the work of the organisation “has never been more important” given the increase in violence during the pandemic.

“We’re just overwhelmed and can’t thank you enough,” Felicity said. “McAuley House aims to provide safety to women and their children by way of accommodation and this money will go a long way.”

Peita expressed her gratitude at greyhound racing having the opportunity to contribute to worthwhile causes such as McAuley House through the Chase for Charity.

“We feel privileged and honoured to be able to help and give something back on behalf of the greyhound family in Victoria,” Ms Duncan said.

Each weekend during the 2021 AFL season, Off The Bench hosts Craig Hutchison (Ronald McDonald House) and Liam Pickering (McAuley House) placed $500 each on a greyhound, with all winnings being raised for their respective charities.

A weekly $500 bet was also placed on a greyhound on behalf of the Danny Frawley Centre.
