Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted October 24, 2021 Journalists Share Posted October 24, 2021 What a week it has been for Brian Brown and the Worm Burner-Shout Out Loud litter! Two members of the mating clocked up the magical 100-start milestone during the week – and they did so in style – with Jetta’s Shout winning at Shepparton and Silver Compass running third at Geelong as the rank outsider. Remarkably, five members of the Peter Bartlett-bred litter have now had 100 starts or more, with another, Rezzie’s Shout (93 starts), on target to reach her century over the coming weeks. Brown trains the majority of the multiple city-winning litter, which don’t turn four until March, while the pick of the crop, Brady’s Shout, is prepared by Bartlett’s partner Vivianne Giles. Nestled in the tiny town of Axedale (near Bendigo), Brown said the durability of racing greyhounds stems from them being afforded the best possible start to life as young pups. “When you talk of longevity it comes early, with the rearing. Good food, plenty of exercise and a lot of TLC.” – BRIAN BROWN “When you talk of longevity it comes early, with the rearing. Good food, plenty of exercise and a lot of TLC,” Brown said. “Peter treats every pup bred on his property like they’re his own, so they had the best of care from day one, and my wife Linda spends three or four hours a day with all my dogs… they love her.” “They’re not overworked, they enjoy what they are doing, and they don’t get trialled a lot. They do race a lot, but their endurance is very good and they just want to compete.” Not surprisingly, sire and dam also had durable careers, with former SA iron dog Worm Burner notching 48 wins from 84 starts, and Shout Out Loud chalking up 15 wins from 98 outings. greyhoundracingvic · Victoria Shaw chats to Brian Brown on milestone litter WATCH: Jetta’s Shout (10) gains a start as the second reserve to notch her 20th win in start number 100 at Shepparton on Monday night.
