New Zealand Bloodstock have made the decision to host their 2021 Ready To Run Sale of 2YOs online.

It was decided that domestic travel restrictions due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic made it impossible to host the auction at their Karaka Complex, and the sale will now take place virtually at Te Rapa Racecourse on 17 and 18 November, commencing at 1PM (NZT) each day.

Although New Zealand agents, trainers, consignors and other domestic clients will be physically present at Te Rapa for the sale, the two-year-olds on offer will not.

New Zealand Bloodstock Managing Director Andrew Seabrook urges buyers to do their due diligence well before the sale commences next month.

“It’s going to be vital that purchasers do their homework thoroughly prior to auction day,” he said.

“Getting a horse inspected or vetted on the days of selling won’t be possible due to the horses being spread out across the country.

New Zealand Bloodstock agents, members of the New Zealand Bloodstock Agents Federation (BAFNZ) and other authorised personnel will be inspecting all two-year-olds entered in the Ready to Run Sale, while adhering to COVID-19 health and safety guidelines.

The parades are scheduled over the next week, beginning tomorrow, Wednesday 24 October.

Should any domestic buyers be interested in attending, please contact NZB’s Kane Jones by calling +64 27 274 4985 or emailing kane.jones@nzb.co.nz.

Earlier this month, 274 talented juveniles galloped down the home straight of Te Rapa Racecourse, with all two-year-olds having the last 200 metres of their work individually timed on Monday 11 and Tuesday 12 October.

For the second year, New Zealand Bloodstock made the decision to lengthen their traditional Breeze-up clip format and offer vision of the mounting yard prior to horses breezing.

This includes additional footage near the 600m mark to capture horses before they fully extended into their gallop, with all two-year-olds also being paraded and filmed in the mounting yard at Te Rapa prior to their gallop.

New Zealand Bloodstock strongly encourages bidders to view its annual Ready to Run Sale breeze-up clips and mounting yard videos, which are available to view online here.
