Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted October 26, 2021 Journalists Share Posted October 26, 2021 What Canterbury Races Where Canterbury Park Racecourse – King St, Canterbury NSW 2193 When Wednesday, October 27, 2021 First Race 2pm AEDT Watch Live Streaming Live at Sportsbet HorseBetting’s New South Wales form analyst brings you his best bets and quaddie numbers for Wednesday’s six-race metropolitan meeting at Canterbury Park. The rail is in the true position for the entire course, while the track is rated a Good 4, so we should see a perfect day of racing. The field for the opening race of the day is set to face the starter at 2pm AEDT. Canterbury Best Bet – Norwegian Bliss Bjorn Baker and Jason Collett combine in the second race of the day with unbeaten mare Norwegian Bliss. The four-year-old daughter of El Roca is currently two from two with dominant wins under her belt at both Port Macquarie and Newcastle, and we expect her to improve on that record despite this being her toughest test to date. Drawn in barrier five, Andrew Adkins will take the mare to the front, look to dictate terms and kick away once again in the straight. Norwegian Bliss settled fourth on debut and raced away to a 2.25-length victory over 1100m at Port Macquarie, before leading all of the way over 1300m at Newcastle on October 12, going on to win by 3.75 lengths. She drops ever so slightly in trip to 1250m, so a similar run to her last should have her a long way in front by the time the winning post appears. The price may not be anything flash, but she should just be winning. Best BetRace 2 – Norwegian Bliss (#6) $1.80 with Sportsbet Next Best at Canterbury – King Kapa Three-year-old colt King Kapa returns to the track on Wednesday in what looks a winnable race given how good his form was in his first preparation. The Joseph Pride-trained son of Capitalist won by a comfortable 2.3 lengths on debut at Grafton over 1100m before going to Doomben, where he finished fourth in the Group 2 Champagne Classic over 1200m, only 3.2 lengths behind Prince Of Boom. King Kapa beat home both Tiger Of Malay and Giannis on that occasion, with both horses going on to place in the Group 1 J.J. Atkins at their subsequent start, before the former won the Group 3 Up & Coming Stakes and the latter won the Listed Dulcify Quality during the Sydney Spring Carnival. King Kapa has trialled very nicely in two trials leading up to his first-up run, which should have him forward enough to win. Jay Ford will be in the driver’s seat from barrier five, and if he doesn’t lead, he should be in the first three. Next BestRace 3 – King Kapa (#3) $3.70 with Sportsbet Best Value at Canterbury – Tectonicus Gerald Ryan & Sterling Alexiou’s horses tend to always fire fresh, so we are hoping that Tectonicus has got the will to win first-up on Wednesday. The four-year-old has only won two out of his 11 career starts, but he has been in the minor money on seven other occasions, including both first-up runs in the past. The son of Not A Single Doubt has had two starts at Canterbury, winning his maiden here before running third to Savoury and Media Starguest in a Benchmark 72 three starts ago. Since then, the horse has finished second to an in-form Prince Of Arragon at Gosford over 1600m, before failing to beat a runner home at Rosehill in his last run for the preparation back in May, where he was beaten a long way. Having placed third in two trials leading up to his first-up assignment, Tectonicus should be ready to go first-up over 1250m. While he has drawn the outside alley for Robbie Dolan, we are confident the gelding can get to a decent enough position in the first half of the field, which would put him right there come the business end. He can win this.
