HorseBetting’s New South Wales racing analyst brings you his best bets and quaddie selections for the seven-race card at Gosford on Thursday afternoon. The track is rated a Good 4, the rail is in the true position for the entire course, and the opening race of the afternoon will jump at 2pm AEDT.

Gosford Best Bet – Ka Bling

In the opening leg of the quaddie, Tommy Berry combines with Peter & Paul Snowden’s Ka Bling. The son of Capitalist has had three career starts, winning once and finishing in the minor money on the other two occasions. On debut, Ka Bling finished third to Kallos, who has since won the Danehill Stakes at Flemington and is one of the favourites in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes this weekend. The three-year-old gelding won his second start at Wyong over 1200m, so he should enjoy the similar style of course at Gosford as well as going back to the 1200m after running second over 1250m at Newcastle last time out. Drawn in the inside alley, Berry will have the race favourite in a prominent position early and he should be too hard to get past.

Best BetRace 4 – Ka Bling (#3) $2.10 with Sportsbet

Next Best Bet at Gosford – Miss Scalini

Nathan Doyle and Lee Magorrian combine in the last race of the day with Miss Scalini, who is having her sixth run this campaign. The five-year-old daughter of Magnus rarely runs a bad race, having finished first, second, third, fourth and fifth in her five runs this time in. The mare comes off a 2.5-length second to French Response at Newcastle over 1600m, which is good form for this race despite rising to a Benchmark 68 and going from 54kg to 58.5kg. Drawn a touch sticky in barrier nine, Magorrian should still be able to push on and find the front on this five-time winner. Miss Scalini won on a Good 4 three starts ago and has struck wet tracks in her past two, so back on to a dry track on Thursday should be the key to her success.

Next BestRace 7 – Miss Scalini (#3) $2.90 with Sportsbet

Gosford Value Bet – Notabadbet

The name says it all – Notabadbet is, in fact, not a bad bet at $9 in the second race of the day. The lightly raced five-year-old gelding has only had six starts and is yet to run in the placings, but his most recent trial at Randwick was decent enough for us to expect a forward showing in his racetrack resumption on Thursday. The son of Alamosa does have to overcome the outside alley, but if he can show some tactical gate speed under Glyn Schofield, he can settle closer and be in the race for a lot longer this time around. The 1100m for this Jim & Greg Lee-trained gelding will suit in his first-up assignment off the back of two 750m trials. We are happy to be on each way.

Best ValueRace 2 – Notabadbet (#3) $9 with Sportsbet
