Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted October 28, 2021 Journalists Share Posted October 28, 2021 What Eagle Farm Races Where Eagle Farm Racecourse – 230 Lancaster Rd, Ascot QLD 4007 When Saturday, October 30, 2021 First Race 11:15pm AEST Watch Live Streaming Live at Sportsbet HorseBetting’s Queensland form analyst brings you his best bets and quaddie numbers for Eagle Farm’s 10-race program this Saturday. While the spotlight will be on Flemington for four Group 1 races as well as Rosehill Gardens for the $7.5 million Golden Eagle, a strong card has been assembled at Brisbane’s Racing HQ. The track has come up a Soft 5 and the rail will be out 5.5m for the entire course. The first race of the afternoon will jump at 11:15am AEST, kicking off a massive day of thoroughbred racing around the country. Eagle Farm Best Bet – Refero It’s Derby Day in Melbourne, so the omen tip of the day could be Refero in the black and white silks. While picking horses based on their silks won’t make you rich, Refero looks a safe way to double your money in the fourth at Eagle Farm. The Tony Gollan-trained three-year-old was simply dominant in his first-up run at the Sunshine Coast, streeting his rivals by three lengths over 1000m. The son of I Am Invincible had shown that sort of ability in his two-year-old season as well, winning on debut before being thrown in the deep end at Listed level in just his second start. From barrier three, Stephanie Thornton will just stalk the speed, and with the gaps likely to come in the long Eagle Farm straight, she should be able to burst through on the gelding and race away with the prize. Queensland’s premier trainer has been patient with Refero, which looks to have worked wonders off his first-up win. If he shows any signs of improvement from that, he wins this race by four lengths with his ears pricked. He is a clear standout, in our view. Best BetRace 4 – Refero (#4) $1.90 with Sportsbet Next Best Bet – Better Get Set Better Get Set ran second to her in-form stablemate Contemptuous at Eagle Farm first-up, before dominating at Ipswich on September 29 and then going down in the smallest of photo finishes back here a fortnight ago. The Better Than Ready mare was narrowly beaten by Centrefire, who is a quality mare, and that pair did put 1.5 lengths on Salateen there, so they were both a class above the rest. Centrefire is not in this race, so that is one less obstacle that Better Get Set has to overcome, while she also meets Salateen 1kg better at the weights despite beating her comfortably last time. Drawn in the inside alley, Baylee Nothdurft will box seat on this O’Dea & Hoysted runner and look to get the job done pretty early on in the 1200m contest. Favourite backers should be going home happy. Best BetRace 10 – Better Get Set (#1) $2.60 with Sportsbet Best Value At Eagle Farm – Gave Us Up In the halfway point of the afternoon, Brad Stewart and Barry Baldwin combine with Gave Us Up, a four-year-old gelded son of Spill The Beans. The gelding has only had six career starts, winning back-to-back races in May, with a win here at Eagle Farm and then at the Sunshine Coast. While Gave Us Up couldn’t make it three in a row, he did go down to Starosa, who then ran fifth at Group 3 level behind Ayrton and Ellsberg, with the latter a $9.50 chance in Saturday’s Golden Eagle, so the form stacks up. Gave Us Up ran below market expectation first-up when fourth in a field of four at the Gold Coast, but that was on a bottomless Heavy 9 track, so we are happy to forgive him for not wanting to be there. Drawn in barrier two with Stewart back in the saddle, he is likely to settle off a moderate tempo before putting in his best work late. The gelding is undefeated at Eagle Farm, undefeated at 1200m and undefeated when second-up, so the $15 on offer seems absurd. He is a cracking each-way play in the fifth. Best ValueRace 5 – Gave Us Up (#5) $15 with Sportsbet Saturday quaddie tips for Eagle Farm Eagle Farm quadrella selections Leg 1: 1-4-5-6-7 Leg 2: 1-2-4-6-7 Leg 3: 2-5 Leg 4: 1-6/td> Investment: $100 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
