Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted October 29, 2021 Journalists Share Posted October 29, 2021 What Mornington Races Where Mornington Racecourse – 320 Racecourse Rd, Mornington VIC 3931 When Sunday, October 31, 2021 First Race 1:05pm AEDT Watch Live Streaming Live at Sportsbet HorseBetting’s Victorian racing analyst has run his eye over the nine-race meeting at Mornington set to be run on Sunday afternoon and has come up with his best bets and quaddie numbers, with top odds from Australia’s leading online bookmakers. The track is rated a Good 4, the rail returns to the true position, and racing is set to commence at 1:05pm AEDT. Mornington Best Bet – Imperial Lad We were with Imperial Lad at Moonee Valley on October 22, and he rewarded us with a dominant all-the-way win. That was his first crack at 1500m, and he simply never looked like getting run down under a perfectly rated steer from Linda Meech. We expect the step back up to 1600m comes at the right time, and with the in-form Jarrod Fry taking the steer from barrier one, he should have no issue in finding the front and dictating terms throughout. He has had a spin around the Mornington 1600m in his career for a second-place finish, and considering the form he has shown this campaign, we expect he will go one better on Sunday in another dominant front-running display. Best BetRace 8 – Imperial Lad (#2) $2 with Sportsbet Next Best Bet at Mornington – Toyz On Fire The Tony & Calvin McEvoy-trained Toyz On Fire is a favourite of ours, and on Sunday we expect she will be too hard to beat at a nice price. The four-year-old Fighting Sun mare chased home Agreeable and Flying Mascot when beaten 1.9 lengths at Bendigo last time out, with the latter since coming out and smashing her rivals in the Group 2 Tesio Stakes last Saturday. That form is more than enough to take out this BM64 affair, and with arguably the best turn of foot in the race, Dean Holland merely just needs Toyz On Fire within striking distance and she should prove too hard to hold out. Next BestRace 7 – Toyz On Fire (#7) $4 with Sportsbet Best Value Bet at Mornington – Pride Of Kinross The Jason Warren & Dean Krongold-trained Pride Of Kinross looked to have the win sewn up at Yarra Valley on October 23, but he managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. He kicked clear by five lengths on the home turn, and with a three-length buffer with 50m to go, he quickly slowed down and was nabbed out wide late by Full Ahead in what was a true heartbreaker. He steps up to 2400m for the first time in his career, and if he can see out the extra 450m he gets here, we expect Beau Mertens to give him the perfect front-running steer.
