Here, we cast an eye over the Irish jockey’s Melbourne Cup history. John Allen’s Melbourne Cup record Allen is yet to have any joy in Australia’s greatest race. He rode Downdraft to 22nd place in the 2019 edition, then achieved the same result with Avilius in 2020.
