Echo Zulu (2, f, Gun Runner-Letgomyecho, by Menifee) stamped herself the leading filly of her division with a tour-de-force victory in the GI NetJets Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies at Del Mar Friday. Named a TDN Rising Star following an impressive maiden win at the Spa July 15, the $300,000 KEESEP yearling purchase took her next two–the GI Spinaway and GI Frizette S. No secret here at 4-5, the Steve Asmussen trainee shot to the front, rolling through a :23.42 quarter. Given some mild pressure leaving the far turn, she spurted away from her rivals and continued to improve her advantage through the lane, galloping home an easy 5 1/2-length winner while under wraps. Juju's Map (Liam's Map) was second. A daughter of the blazing hot freshman sire Gun Runner, the April foal is out of GSW Letgomyecho, making her a half-sister to Grade I winner Echo Town (Speightstown). Final time for the 8 1/2-furlong test was a legitimate 1:42.24. Lifetime Record: 4-4-0-0, $1,640,000. O-L and N Racing and Winchell Tbreds LLC; B-Betz/J. Betz/Burns/CHNNHK/Magers/CoCo/Ramsby (KY). T-Steve Asmussen.
