GOLDEN PAL (c, 3, Uncle Mo–Lady Shipman, by Midshipman), last year's GII Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint winner, ran them off their feet Saturday to provide Wesley Ward with a first GI Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint trophy. The 5-2 favorite, out of 2015 Turf Sprint runner-up Lady Shipman, had most recently annexed Keeneland's GII Woodford S. Oct. 9. He crossed the line some 1 1/4 lengths to the good of local hope Lieutenant Dan (Grazen)–who chased the winner all the way around the track–while stopping the clock in :54.75. Fellow California-based runner Charmaine's Mia (The Factor) rounded out the trifecta. Ward secured his third-straight Juvenile Turf Sprint trophy on Friday with Twilight Gleaming (Ire) (National Defense {GB}). Lifetime Record: 8-5-2-0.
O-Mrs. John Magnier, Michael B. Tabor, Derrick Smith & Westerberg. B-Randall E. Low (FL). T-Wesley A. Ward.
