Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted November 6, 2021 Journalists Posted November 6, 2021 Japanese runners have continued to more than hold their own on the international stage for years now, but the Land of the Rising Sun broke through with a belated first Breeders' Cup win Saturday when LOVES ONLY YOU (JPN) (m, 5, Deep Impact {Jpn}–Loves Only Me, by Storm Cat) extricated herself from traffic just in time to get up for a half-length decision in the GI Filly & Mare Turf. Already a highest-level winner in both her native country and Hong Kong, the bay was coming off a second-place run in the G2 Sapporo Kinen Aug. 22. Longshot My Sister Nat (Fr) (Acclamation {GB}), the half to 2018 F/M Turf winner Sistercharlie (Ire) (Myboycharlie {Ire}) was second, while the streaking War Like Goddess (English Channel) faded late to third after uncorking a big sweeping move. The winner is also the first by the late, great Deep Impact. Sales history: ¥160,000,000 Ylg '17 JRHAJUL. Lifetime Record: 15-7-2-3. O-DMM Dream Club Co. B-Northern Farm (Jpn). T-Yoshito Yahagi.
