Team Godolphin’s Huge Weekend Continues in Turf

YIBIR (GB) (g, 3, Dubawi {Ire}–Rumh {Ger}, by Monsun {Ger}) became the third Breeders' Cup winner of the weekend owned and bred by Godolphin, trained by Charlie Appleby, ridden by William Buick and sired by Dubawi as he powered home late to run down Broome (Ire) (Australia {GB}) in the GI Breeders' Cup Turf. Lightly raced Teona (Ire) (Sea the Stars {Ire}) was third as European runners made up the top four spots. Yibir took August's G2 Great Voltigeur S., and most recently annexed the Jockey Club Derby Invitational at Belmont Park Sept. 18. Brad Cox-trained Godolpin colorbearer Essential Quality (Tapit) opened the 8-5 favorite for the upcoming GI Breeders' Cup Classic. Lifetime Record: 12-6-1-2.
