Superstar Aston Rupee has drifted slightly from $2.40 to $2.50 but still holds favouritism despite drawing Box 4, for the $500,000 to-the-winner Group 1 TAB Melbourne Cup final (515m) on Friday night.

The all-important box draw, for the ‘world’s greatest greyhound race, was conducted live from Eureka Tower this morning during Episode One of GRV’s Thrill of the Chase program on 7two.

Trained by Glenn Rounds, Aston Rupee – a recent winner of the G1 Topgun – is Australia’s No. 1 sprinter.

G2 Cranbourne Cup winner Koblenz (Box 3) is the clear second elect, firming marginally from $3.20 into $3.

Next in betting is Pink Diamond Champion Short Course winner Aussie Secret (Box 1) whose pre-box draw quote of $10 was trimmed to $8.

G3 Cranbourne Classic winner Lala Kiwi (Box 5) and G1 Silver Chief winner Lakeview Walter (Box 6) are both at $10, followed by Jepara (Box 2) and Kinson Bale (Box 8), each quoted at $15, and then rank outsider Tiberia Bale (Box 7) at $71.

Aston Rupee (3) powers past his rivals in his TAB Melbourne Cup heat last Friday.

Friday night’s action also includes the $105,000 to-the-winner Group 1 Bold Trease final (715m).

G3 Speed Star winner Mepunga Ruby was the fastest of the four heat winners last Friday night and is TAB’s $2.25 favourite from Box 3.

Gypsy Wyong was mowed down in the final stages by Mepunga Ruby, but the G1 Topgun Stayers winner is the $4.80 second elect from Box 6.

G2 Sydney Cup finalist Line Of Quality was also an impressive heat winner and is currently rated a $6.50 chance from Box 7.

Untapped, in Box 1, and G1 Sandown Cup finalist Kenny The Brute, in Box 2, are $7.50 hopes, with G1 Hume Cup winner Knicks Bale at $8.50 from Box 5.
