Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted November 26, 2021 Journalists Posted November 26, 2021 Godolphin's Maxfield (c, 4, Street Sense–Velvety, by Bernardini) capped his racing career with a 3/4-length victory in the GI Clark H. at Churchill Downs Friday. The dark bay colt tracked Midnight Bourbon (Tiznow) through fractions of :23.83 and :48.00. He stuck a head in front at the top of lane and, after finally putting away the pesky pacesetter, had to stave off the late charge of Happy Saver (Super Saver) to secure the second Grade I win of his career and complete a perfect five-for-five record under the Twin Spires. He completed the nine furlongs in 1:49.06. Maxfield, who takes up stud duties at Darley at Jonabell Farm next year, captured the 2019 GI Claiborne Breeders' Futurity, won this year's GII Alysheba S. and GII Stephen Foster S. before runner-up efforts in the Aug. 7 GI Whitney S. and Oct. 2 GI Woodward S. Lifetime Record: 11-8-2-1. O/B-Godolphin (Ky). T-Brendan Walsh.
