A bumper nine-part card is scheduled for Warrnambool on SUnday afternoon for Jericho Cup and Horsebetting’s Victorian horse racing tipping expert presents his best bets, top odds and free quaddie selections. The track is rated a Soft 5, with the rail in the true position throughout, for the meeting scheduled to get underway at 12:40pm AEDT.

Jericho Cup Top Tip – Wil John

Having finished third in the Jericho Cup last year, we anticipate the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained Wil John can improve on that result and take out the feature event of the day this time round. Having won two starts back at Caulfield when defeating Smokin’ Romans and Accountability, he looks to be in the best form heading into the race. Forget his last start eight at Flemington on November 2 when finding his rivals turn of foot to much to keep up with over 2800m. However, the 4600m on Sunday looks to be ideal and despite needing to lug 70kg he looks to be the class runner in the field and will take a power of beating in the 2021 Jericho Cup.

Best Bet at Warrnambool – Wanaroo

In the opening leg of the quaddie, we expect to see the Symon Wilde-trained Wanaroo to bring up consecutive victories for the first time in her career. The three-year-old Wandjina filly managed to finish within 1.25 lengths of the smart Tycoon Humma and Kallos at Stakes grade in her initial campaign and if she brings that type of effort here, she should be hard to beat here. Having smashed her rivals by 3.75 lengths in her maiden win at Warrnambool over 1100m when leading all the way, the step up to 1200m and jumping from barrier one looks to be the perfect recipe for success. Having drawn the rail, Daniel Moor should have no issue in finding the front, dictating terms and proving too hard to run down once again.

Next Best at Warrnambool – Royal Fox

One of our better bets on Jericho Cup Day comes up in the opener, when the Matthew Williams-trained Royal Fox looks to build on his first-up minor placing to Wanaroo over the Warrnambool 1100m on November 5. With form behind Jungle Magnate and Mac ‘N’ Cheese last campaign, the three-year-old Foxwedge gelding clearly has some above average ability. Despite being beaten 3.75 lengths first-up Royal Fox still managed to put 1.5 lengths of his own on his closest rival back in third. This looks not the deepest maiden event going around and with the step up to 1400 second-up looking ideal, he should take some beating. From barrier seven, Zac Spain will need a touch of luck to in a bid to gain cover, but if he is lucky in doing so then Royal Fox should be bringing up a deserved maiden win at start five.
