Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted December 9, 2021 Journalists Share Posted December 9, 2021 What Ascot Races Where Ascot Racecourse – 71 Grandstand Rd, Ascot WA 6104 When Saturday, December 11, 2021 First Race 11:48am AWST Watch Live Streaming Live at Sportsbet Ascot is set to host a nine-race card on Saturday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s Perth tipping expert presents his best bets and quaddie selections with odds from Australia’s leading bookmakers. The track is rated a Good 4, the rail is in the true position, and racing gets underway at 11:48am AWST (2:48pm AEDT). G.A. Towton Cup Top Tip – Pure Devotion The Listed G.A. Towton Cup over 2200m worth $125,000 is the feature event on Saturday and we will be hoping the Grant & Alana Williams yard can continue their impressive form and get Pure Devotion over the line. Having put together three wins a row, the four-year-old So You Think mare enters the race in fine form with a few of her main market rivals struggling for winning form. She will need a touch of luck from barrier 10, but with Clint Johnston-Porter on board, we expect to see her settle in the back half of the field. The Bay mare has two wins and a runner-up result to her name at the Ascot 2200m and if she gets the race run to her liking, we expect to see her finish over the top of her rivals and bring up a deserved Stakes level victory. Kensington StakesRace 8 – Pure Devotion (#13) $3.20 with Ladbrokes Best Bet at Ascot – God Has Chosen We were with the Lindsey Smith-trained God Has Chosen a fortnight ago when he was a dominant victor as a $1.65 favourite on November 27. He settled three wide with no cover on that day but under urgings from William Pike managed to put close to two lengths on his closest rival. He draws barrier eight on Saturday, and with Patrick Carbery replacing the suspended Pike, we suspect the son of Playing God to settle closer to last. He has a cracking turn of foot and hardly knows how to run a poor race, winning four and placing second in three from seven career starts. With Ginger Flyer providing a genuine tempo, it will set the race up perfectly for God Has Chosen to finish right over the top of them. Best BetRace 4 – God Has Chosen (#5) $1.70 with Bet365 Next Best at Ascot – Rockin’ Rupert Following a dominant debut win at Belmont on November 17, the Sean & Jake Casey-trained Rockin’ Rupert looks one of the better bets on Saturday. Having won under a relative hold last time out over 1000m, the step up to the 1100m looks to be ideal for this second-up run. He draws barrier three for this, and with Peter Knuckey retaining the ride, the three-year-old son of Winning Rupert will take some beating. He is set to gain a suck run just off the leader’s heels, and if he produces the same turn of foot he did last time out, then it is hard to see how his rivals beat him as he looks to remain undefeated through two starts. Next BestRace 2 – Rockin’ Rupert (#4) $2.10 with Bet365 Best Value at Ascot – Off Wego In the final race of the day Adam Durrant saddles up Off Wego, who is coming off two consecutive third-place finishes to begin this campaign. The four-year-old son of Oratorio has been left flat-footed and outsprinted over 1400m and 1600m so far, so the step up to the 1800m looks to be ideal third-up from a spell. With a win and a minor placing from two third-up starts, we know he will handle the conditions, despite still being an Ascot maiden from seven starts. From barrier seven, we expect to see him get back in the field under Clint Johnston-Porter, and with a well-timed steer, we expect a bold run at a nice price. Best ValueRace 9 – Off Wego (#13) $9.50 with Ladbrokes Saturday quaddie tips for Ascot Ascot quadrella selections Leg 1: 1-3-6-7 Leg 2: 2-5-8-12 Leg 3: 4-9-11-13 Leg 4: 1-6-8-10-13 Investment: $320 for 100% See more horse racing tips View the full article
