HorseBetting’s New South Wales form analyst brings you his best bets and quaddie selections for Wyong’s seven-race card on Wednesday, including picks in both Magic Millions feature races. The track is rated a Soft 5, the rail is in the true position for the entire course, and the first race of the day is set to go at 1:45pm AEDT.

Magic Millions Wyong 3YO & 4YO Stakes – Snitzonfire

In the first feature race of the day, the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained Snitzonfire will be looking to get back into the winner’s stall after tasting defeat for the first time at Rosehill on December 4. The gelding is likely to head north to the Gold Coast for the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas, so the stable will be hoping that he can bounce back. This son of Snitzel has drawn a touch wide in barrier seven, but he does have very good early speed which should allow him to go forward and lead under regular rider Tim Clark. The stable have opted to put blinkers on for the first time on Wednesday, so he should be very switched on ahead of this assignment. If he can lead, we expect Snitzonfire to be extremely hard to run down, especially around the tight Wyong track. We are very cautious of Head Legislator, who resumes in this race and is looking for three wins in a row.

Magic Millions Wyong 2YO Classic – Emilia Romagna

Bjorn Baker and Jason Collett combine in the $200,000 feature with Emilia Romagna. This filly by Pierro has had just one career start, finishing sixth at Rosehill on November 27 behind Lady Laguna on a Heavy 10 track when beating home Hard To Say. That horse has since run second in Listed company at Eagle Farm, which we are confident will prove to be good form for this. Both of her two trials prior to her debut were good, running close enough second-placings in each. Emilia Romagna is out of The Galaxy-winning mare Griante, so if she has inherited any of her dam’s genes, she should have the speed to sprint with her rivals over 1100m. Collett is likely to settle midfield or better from barrier nine and have her within striking distance. She looks over the odds.

Best Bet at Wyong – Diorissima

Goulburn trainer Jean Dubois will be hoping that his consistent four-year-old Diorissima can break her maiden status at start number 14. The grey mare has finished in the minor money in five races so far in her career, including a fast-finishing second in a Class 3 Highway at Kembla Grange 12 months ago. The daughter of Tapit has regularly raced in tougher company than maiden grade, where she has always run well, so she really deserves to break through in this. James Innes Jr won a trial on Diorissima on Tuesday at Randwick on the synthetic track where she led throughout, and he has retained the ride on Wednesday afternoon, so we will be hoping to see similar tactics in place. The $6.50 seems overs in a race without a great deal of depth.

Next Best at Wyong – Apache Belle

The stayers get their chance in race two, and it looks a nice one for Wayne Seelin’s mare Apache Belle to get back into the winner’s stall for the first time in four months. The six-year-old daughter of Mahisara ran second to Black Queen over 2400m at Warwick Farm on December 8 and will now be having her third start in December. Apache Belle certainly won’t be light on fitness, given that she hasn’t had a spell since March in her first run for the stable. The heavily raced galloper has had one spin around Wyong in the past for a third-placing over this distance in August, so if she can repeat that performance against this field, she should be competitive. The in-form Regan Bayliss will be in the saddle from barrier two, so Apache Belle should be able to settle a touch closer in the run compared to where she has done in her past few starts. She has the form on the board.
