Legendary dual-purpose trainer David Elsworth will not renew his licence next year, and thus retires after 66 years in the sport. The news was first reported by Racing Post.

“I don't think it's a big deal but I no longer have any horses and I won't be renewing my licence, so you can now definitely say I'm retiring,” Elsworth said.

Elsworth handled the careers of such stars over the jumps and on the Flat as Desert Orchid, Persian Punch, In The Groove, Rhyme 'N Reason and Arabian Queen.
