The Warrnambool Racing Club is scheduled to host their annual eight-race meeting on New Year’s Eve and Horsebetting’s Victorian form expert presents his best bets, top odds and free quaddie numbers. The track is rated a Soft 5 but with a 38-degree day expected we will be racing on a Good 4 before too long, with the rail in the true position, commencing at 2:10pm AEDT.

Best Bet at Warrnambool – Morning Has Broken

Local trainer Symon Wilde will be hoping his four-year-old mare Morning Has Broken can break through at star four following consecutive second-place finishes. The Night of Thunder mare gone down by a short half head and a nostril in her past two starts having found one better on both occasions. She will regain the services of Linda Meech who gave her a peach of a ride two starts back at Stawell on December 4 and despite gaining the upper hand inside the final 150m, she was found wanting late. She draws barrier seven here on Friday and if Meech can have her lobbed in the one-one or outside the leader, then with race fitness and decent enough form on her side, Morning Has Broken should be too good this time round.

Best BetRace 1 – Morning Has Broken (#7) $2.05 with Sportsbet

Next Best at Warrnambool – Sixbysixtythree

Patrick Payne sends Sixbysixtythree back to a Warrnambool BM70 following a tough initiation at Flemington on December 18. Having won his first three starts of his career, chasing home the likes of Not to Be Mist, It’sourtime and Ranting is form not be scoffed at. Samuel Payne will look to use barrier two to his advantage and dictate terms throughout over 1200m and despite needing to lug 60.5kg, he should still be way too good for this lot. His first two wins in his career came when settling close to the speed or leading, but his win at Pakenham two starts back showed his tactical versatility. Based on that he looks to be a great bet in the opening leg of the quaddie.

Next BestRace 5 – Sixbysixtythree (#3) $3.80 with Sportsbet

Best Value at Warrnambool – Skinny Dip

Daniel Bowman and Melissa Julius will be hoping Skinny Dip can build on his last start fourth at Geelong on December 10. Having travelled three wide with no cover up off the speed and did well to stick on to be beaten under two-lengths. He steps up to 1400m on Friday which looks to be ideal third-up this campaign and in a race full of perennial non-winners it looks perfectly set up for Skinny Dip to breakthrough at start three. From barrier five, we expect to see Julius have this three-year-old son of Sacred Falls settled in a handy position. If he can offer a nice turn of foot, then we expect him to be too good for this lot.

Best ValueRace 3 – Skinny Dip (#7) $3.90 with Sportsbet
