Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted January 4, 2022 Journalists Share Posted January 4, 2022 What Doomben Races Where Doomben Racecourse – 75 Hampden Street, Ascot QLD When Wednesday, January 5, 2022 First Race 1:37pm AEST Watch Live Streaming Live at Sportsbet HorseBetting’s Queensland form analyst has previewed the seven-race programme at Doomben on Wednesday, January 5, and brings you his best bets, value bet and free quaddie numbers. The track is currently rated a Soft 7, while the rail is out 6.5m for the entire course. The first race of the day is set to jump at 1:37pm AEST. Doomben Best Bet – Princess Tenko Kelly Schweida and Ben Thompson combine in the second race of the afternoon with talented mare, Princess Tenko. The four-year-old was a good winner second-up at the Sunshine Coast on December 17 over 1200m, where she knuckled down to the task in the concluding stages to win by eight-tenths of a length. The daughter of Real Impact is yet to race at Doomben, with most of her racing done at Eagle Farm, however, she has trialled at Doomben once in the past. Now third-up and out to 1350m, the three-times winner can use barrier four to her advantage by booting through and leading. Princess Tenko boasts some quality form around the likes of Eloquently, Lady Banff and Dovetail Diva, which should put her right at the pointy end of the market in this Class 4 Handicap where she has only 55.5kg on her back. This looks to be her race to lose. Best BetRace 2 – Princess Tenko (#5) $3.10 with Sportsbet Next Best Bet – Lucifer’s Loot The final race of the day is an ultra-competitive 1050m sprint for runners rated between 0 and 70 under Handicap conditions. At the top of the weights is Natalie McCall’s Lucifer’s Loot, a four-year-old gelding who is having his second run for the campaign. The son of Rich Enuff led for most of the 1000m first-up at the Sunshine Coast and was nailed late by All Stars, with fitness or a lack thereof, proving the difference. Nash Rawiller does the riding on Wednesday which is a massive advantage, while barrier two is going to allow him to use the inside draw to boot through and lead this field comfortably. Lucifer’s Loot has had the eight starts for three wins and two runner-up performances, with one of his victories coming on rain-affected going. He can lead all of the way in the last race of the day and go one better than last time out. This race is within his grasp. Next BestRace 7 – Lucifer’s Loot (#1) $3.20 with Sportsbet Best Value At Doomben – Wham In the opening leg of the quaddie, Lindsay Hatch and Brad Stewart combine with ex-Victorian, Wham. The six-year-old gelding has had four starts in Queensland now, where he has a very good record of one win and three minor placings. In his only start at this track, the son of Melbourne Cup winner Fiorente was a narrow runner-up to the then-in-form Adelase over 1600m on August 7. Wham’s first-up run was solid enough over 1210m at Toowoomba when third behind Maya Bay and Aluf, so he should take plenty of benefit out of that into this second-up run. The 2019 Bendigo Guineas fourth-placegetter will improve with each run her has this preparation, so the 1200m again is a slight query, however the wet track will suit, while there should be plenty of speed in this for him to stalk and finish over the top of. Brad Stewart is yet to ride the gelding, but he is in some good form since returning from suspension. Jumping from barrier nine and with 60kg on his back presents minor concerns, but we are confident he is the best horse in this race and can prove too strong late. Best ValueRace 4 – Wham (#2) $10 with Sportsbet Wednesday quaddie tips for Doomben Doomben quadrella selections Leg 1: 2-3-4-6 Leg 2: 1-2-3-8 Leg 3: 2-3-8-10 Leg 4: 1-5-10-13 Investment: $256 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
