Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted January 5, 2022 Journalists Share Posted January 5, 2022 What Cranbourne Races Where Cranbourne Turf Club – 50 Grant St, Cranbourne VIC 3977 When Friday, January 7, 2022 First Race 6:15pm AEDT Watch Live Streaming Live at Sportsbet An eight-race card is scheduled for Cranbourne on Friday evening Horsebetting.com.au’s Victorian horse racing form analyst presents his best bets, top odds and free quaddie selections. The track is rated a Good 3, with the rail in the true position, for the meeting commencing at 6:15pm AEDT. Cranbourne Best Bet – Star Smash Our best bet of the night at Cranbourne comes up early in the card when the Simon Zahra-trained Star Smash steps out over 1500m looking to break his maiden at start five. The three-year-old son of Star Turn fought on gamely at the Wangaratta 1400m on December 23, but tired late to be beaten just under a length. He steps up to the 1500m and considering he comes here second-up from a near five-month spell, he should be raring to go. From barrier eight, we will be hoping that the in-form Jamie Mott can have Star Smash lobbed into the one-one from the tricky draw. If he is afforded that, he should gain a nice tow into the race and should prove too hard to hold out in what looks to be a shallow maiden affair. Best BetRace 2 – Star Smash (#9) $2.70 with Sportsbet Next Best Bet at Cranbourne – Tsunami Sam In the last race of the night, we will be hoping the now Ben & JD Hayes-trained Tsunami Sam can begin his Australian career with a win. The three-year-old Shamexpress colt managed a 1.3-length win over subsequent Stakes winner Dream Queen on debut a Ruakaka on July 3 last year and looks to be a colt with plenty of ability. He managed to take up a prominent role close to the speed and like we said held off a smart one and kept going strongly through the line. From barrier seven, we expect to see Jamie Mott be positive with his ride early on and look to have him settled in the first four. If he is able to do that, Tsunami Sam has plenty of upside and should be taking out a BM64 race like this if he is being targeted for some black type races this autumn. Next BestRace 8 – Tsunami Sam (#5) $2.70 with Sportsbet Best Value Bet at Cranbourne – Granny’s Reward The Peter Moody-trained Granny’s Reward is set for her second run of the campaign when stepping out at the Cranbourne 1200m. The three-year-old Reward for Effort filly returned with a close up fourth placed finish at Moe on December 17 and with natural improvement between runs, we think she can spring somewhat of a surprise. From barrier 10, Jason Benbow will have no other option but to roll forward on Granny’s Reward and take up a prominent spot. With the speed influence in the race drawn to her immediate outside, she should gain a nice cart across the field. In a race with not much in it, Granny’s Reward will take some beating. Best ValueRace 4 – Granny’s Reward (#9) $9.50 with Sportsbet Friday quaddie tips for Cranbourne Cranbourne quadrella selections Leg 1: 1-3-8 Leg 2: 2-3-4-6 Leg 3: 2-6-7-9 Leg 4: 4-5 Investment: $96 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
