Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted January 16, 2022 Journalists Share Posted January 16, 2022 Kementari’s only colt has sold at the Gold Coast Magic Millions Sales, with Anthony Cummings purchasing the yearling for $200,000. The colt is one of just two Kementari yearlings, after the likely stallion failed at stud, which saw the son of Lonhro gelded and re-prepared as a racehorse. Lot 695 was the second of the two Kementari progeny to go through the sales ring at the Gold Coast, with his sister, a filly out of Mithila, sold for $325,000 earlier in the week. “He’s a really promising individual, a good mover and suited what I like to find in a yearling,” Cummings told Racing.com. “A good racehorse does (get you far) and he’s got all the attributes to make that.” Kementari is trained by Anthony’s son James, and will line up in Saturday’s Magic Millions Cup (1400m) as the $5.50 favourite, creating an “unusual” situation. “This is pretty unusual,” the colt’s buyer said. “Typically when they go to stud, they don’t head to racing when they come back, but Kementari’s racing on the weekend and a really good chance as well.” Shares are still available in the $200,000 colt, with Cummings directing potential buyers to head to his website.
