Originally a nine-race program, we will now see 11 races run and won on Monday, including the $100,000 Celebration Of Life Day Stakes (1500m). “With the postponement of the meeting at Ascot tomorrow (22/1), all races are being transferred to Monday (24/1),” Racing & Wagering WA’s Vinny Meens said. “Trainers will NOT be required to re-nominated for these 9 races. “In addition to these races, a Maiden 1400m and 3YO No Metro Win Last Year 1600m will be added to the program (abandoned Wednesday 19/1).” NEW JANUARY RECORD FOR PERTH Perth has just recorded 4th consecutive day of 40°C Tue (40.8°C) Wed (42.1°C) Thu (40.5°C) Fri (40.0°C) The previous January record was 3 consecutive days in the following years; 1968, 1978, 1991, 2007 & 2010 @nobby15 — The Weather Ferret (@2017Ferret) January 21, 2022 Temperatures of up to 41 degrees are forecast for Ascot on Saturday, with the Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology also issuing a severe fire weather warning. The temperature is expected to drop nine degrees on Monday, with a warm 32-degree day forecast. Final fields for the entire 11-race program will be available later on this afternoon, once the acceptances are declared for the additional two races. It is the second rescheduled meeting in Western Australia this week, after Belmont was abandoned on Wednesday for the same reason.
