HorseBetting’s New South Wales form analyst has previewed the seven-race card at Wyong on Sunday afternoon and brings you his best bets, value bet and quaddie numbers. The track is rated a Soft 6 and the rail is out 3m for the entire course. The first race of the day is scheduled to jump at 1:15pm AEST.

Best Bet – Race 1 #3 Petulant $1.95

Since returning to Australia, Chad Schofield has only ridden the one winner, but he gets a brilliant chance to bag another in the opener on Sunday when he partners the Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes-trained Petulant. The three-year-old filly has been scratched on numerous occasions, with the stable making sure she is spot on to race. The daughter of Starspangledbanner finished second on debut as a heavily-backed favourite behind Quatenus, before proving too good at this track on a Heavy 10 on December 9. She goes from 1000m to 1100m, which should suit, while barrier three gives this filly every chance to win again. Follow her through the grades.

Next Best – Race 5 #3 Turning $2.80

Kim Waugh and Rory Hutchings combine in the fifth with a talented three-year-old, Turning. The son of Star Turn was beaten on debut at Scone, before winning two races back-to-back at Muswellbrook and Taree during the winter. The gelding recorded a terrific 2.3-length victory at Muswellbrook at his second start, before looping the field at Taree over the 1007m trip in Benchmark 58 company in August. Waugh took the galloper to a metropolitan race on the Kensington track at Randwick on September 1 where he finished four lengths off Vindication and Warrior Hero, on the same day that Profondo made his debut. One trial at Gosford in preparation for this assignment should have him ready to go, while the outside alley should allow him to get into a nice rhythm and loop the field once again.

Next BestRace 5 – Turning (#3) $2.80 with Ladbrokes

Best Value – Race 7 #8 Salsa Man $12

In the final race of the day, Paul Perry and apprentice jockey Madi Derrick combine with Salsa Man over 1600m. The six-year-old son of I Am Invincible has won three races in his 44-start career, with two of those coming at this track, while he has placed a further 10 times at Wyong. Having placed third in his past two starts with Derrick in the saddle, Salsa Man will be looking to get another deserved win on Sunday as he steps out to 1600m for the first time this preparation. Drawn well in barrier three, Derrick can look to box seat on the gelding and look to get him out with plenty of time around his favourite track. He should be peaking now. Salsa Man is paying upwards of $12 with the top racing bookmakers.
