HorseBetting’s Western Australian form analyst has previewed Ascot’s 11-race card on Monday, January 24, and brings you his best bets and quaddie numbers. After the meeting was postponed on Saturday due to extreme heat, perfect racing conditions are in store, with the track rated a Good 4 and the rail in the true position, while the temperature is likely to drop from 41 degrees Celsius on Saturday down to 32. The first race of the afternoon is scheduled to kick off at 12:22pm AWST.

Ascot’s Best Bet Of The Day – Burnya To Survive

He dons very similar silk colours to that of Makybe Diva, and while we doubt Burnya To Survive will ever win a Melbourne Cup, let alone three, he is building a very impressive racing record. The four-year-old son of Bradbury’s Luck placed third on Debut back in April, before having a good break and returning in December which has seen him win three in a row. The Jason Miller-trained gelding started a $6 chance at this track on January 8 in a One Metro Wins Handicap over 1200m, where the gelding won by half a length in last-to-first fashion. Ben Kennedy rode the four-year-old in all three of his wins, but he has been replaced by Paul Harvey on Saturday as he looks to make it four straight.

Next Best Bet – Proconsent

Despite having partnered Beret to four consecutive wins this preparation, gun hoop Clint Johnston-Porter has opted to jump off to ride its stablemate, Proconsent. The Adam Durrant-trained six-year-old has won six from 22, including a dominant three-length win at this track on November 20 over 1600m with 60kg on his back. Since then, the son of Proart has been in the minor money when a short-priced favourite on two occasions, going down by three tenths of a length two starts back and then being out-classed in the Easingwold Stakes last time out over 1400m. Proconsent now gets back out to 1500m which is going to suit, while the inside alley will give CJP plenty of options in the run. It’s a fair push that he has jumped off Beret to ride this instead.

Best BetRace 10 – Proconsent (#8) $3.20 with Sportsbet

Best Value At Ascot – Beau Zoom

Former Victorian Beau Zoom has only won the one race, but he has placed on 10 occasions, proving to his followers that he isn’t a complete dud. The son of Brazen Beau hasn’t raced since June when he was a narrow runner up at Belmont over 1300m. Neville Parnham hasn’t trialled this five-year-old officially, so he could be a touch underdone on Saturday, however he has won and finished second in his four first-up runs, so he does go well fresh. Having drawn the inside alley under Brad Parnham, Beau Zoom can settle close in the run and be fresh enough to have a winning shot in the straight.
