Caretaker trainer Brent Lilley is confident Temporale can snare more Group One glory on Australian soil, starting with the Dullard Trotters Cup at Melton on Saturday night.

The nine-year-old, who has bankrolled over $700,000, has headed to Lilley’s Victorian stables on the back of two seconds behind Bolt For Brilliance at Alexandra Park and Cambridge.

“We can’t fault him at home, he’s a quality horse who’s right on song,” Lilley told harnesslink.com.

Trained by Michelle Wallis and Bernie Hackett in this country, Temporale is the winner of 25 races from 80 starts and has been a regular campaigner across the Tasman since 2016, winning tomorrow’s race the Group One Dullard Cup in 2020, and placing in it in 2018 and 2019. Fellow Kiwi trotter Majestic Man won the race last year.

Drawn five over the 2240 metres and to be driven by Greg Sugars, the son of Monarchy is currently the second favourite behind Majestuoso, with support also for Wobelee, Tough Monarach and Lotamuscle.

Overall he’s raced 11 times in Australia for one win and nine placings.

Lilley thinks there is more to come.

“He will be hard to beat right through the next few weeks.”

After this weekend the big target will be the Great Southern Stars heats, and potentially the final on February 12.

The Dullard Cup is scheduled to be run at 11.38 NZT tomorrow night.
