Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted January 29, 2022 Journalists Posted January 29, 2022 What was expected to be a pillar-to-post heavyweight battle between expected 2021 Horse of the Year Knicks Go (Paynter) and brilliant 'TDN Rising Star' LIFE IS GOOD (c, 4, Into Mischief–Beach Walk, by Distorted Humor) in the $3-million GI Pegasus World Cup Invitational S. appeared over soon after the start. The latter was gunned to the front by Irad Ortiz, Jr. to clear off, while rail-drawn Knicks Go was a bit run off his feet into the first turn before eventually settling into second. Life Is Good maintained a margin of some five-plus lengths on his rivals while kept well out in the track through a :46.35 half, and he still seemed to be going easiest as Joel Rosario implored Knicks Go to narrow the gap after six panels in 1:10.15. The tighter race appeared to be for second as hard-knocking Stiletto's Boy (Shackleford) moved inside of Knicks Go. Knicks Go shut the door on that foe, but he was never getting to Life Is Good, who cruised under the wire as Ortiz four or five lengths clear while Ortiz brushed his mane. He stopped the clock in 1:48.91. Life Is Good was favored among the 4-5 shots, taking the late tote attention for a final tally of $1,297,164 compared to $1,257,787 for Knicks Go. Life Is Good was last seen dominating in the Nov. 6 GI Big Ass Fans Dirt Mile–a race Knicks Go, who now heads off to stand stud at Taylor Made, won in 2020. Sales history: $525,000 ylg '19 KEESEP.
