Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted February 15, 2022 Journalists Share Posted February 15, 2022 After quieter than expected bidding yesterday, the NZB Standardbred Yearling Sales roared back into life today. The second day of the Christchurch sale wrapped up just before 5pm with nearly $4m spent. Stonewall Stud spent more than $1.3m at Karaka on Sunday, including the top lot, a Bettor’s Delight – Double Twist colt, which was knocked down for $260,000. Today the stud forked out more big money. It went to $260,000 again, this time for Lot 295, a Bettor’s Delight – Fight For Glory colt. It also paid $210,000 for Lot 287, a Bettor’s Delight – Elusive Chick Colt, $185,000 for a Captaintreacherous – Bettor Think Twice colt (Lot 254), and $150,000 for Akuta’s half-sister, a Always B Miki – Adore To Our Dreams filly (Lot 229). The day started in promising fashion when Mark Jones spent $150,000 for a Bettor’s Delight – Tact Lizzie filly (Lot 206) while bloodstock agent Peter Lagan went to $180,000 for a Always B Miki – Beaudiene Babe filly (Lot 245), which will now head to Perth. The four-day sale finishes in Christchurch tomorrow (Wednesday) with Lot 311 set to go at 1pm.
