Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted February 15, 2022 Journalists Share Posted February 15, 2022 By Joshua Smith, Harness News Desk Hunterville trainer Scott Dickson took his 10-strong team to Manawatu Raceway on Tuesday and came home with a winning treble. Dickson wasn’t surprised by the result, citing all his winners had been performing well for some time. “It doesn’t surprise you about any of them when they are all knocking on the door to do it,” Dickson said. Dickson opened his account with I Won’t Back Down taking out The Cobb Mobile Pace (2000m). “She has been waiting her turn to win one,” Dickson said. “She has had good form all the way through and was thereabouts and was knocking on the door. It was good for her to get that result today.” Dickson didn’t have to wait long to add to his tally, with stablemate Big Skewy winning the following race, the Cartown Mobile Pace (2000m). “I thought he would have won one before now. He has been in the first four for most of his starts, he has just been waiting his turn,” he said. Pembrook’s Destiny secured the stable treble when winning the Manawatu ITM Mobile Pace (2000m). “He was disappointing on the grass at Hawera but before that he was unlucky a few times at Cambridge. Today he sat parked and he kept rolling,” Dickson said. Dickson was unlucky not to add a further win to his tally when Ticking Over came up just a neck short in the Woodlands Stud Mobile Pace (2000m) when beaten by Immer Besser. “He had the trail and it worked out well for him,” Dickson said. “He went well. He has dropped back into the grade that he is competitive in. When he is in that grade he tends to win one fairly quickly.” Dickson was also pleased to see his father Rodney take out the opening race of the card with his handy trotter Thank You. “He has done a good job since he has had him. When he trots he gets money normally,” Dickson said. Meanwhile, the Hunterville horseman added to his team on Sunday when he went to $6,000 to secure lot 130, the Muscle Mass colt, out of Hollis & Robertson Equine Services New Zealand Bloodstock Standardbred National Yearling Sale draft at Karaka. “I haven’t seen him, I thought he was cheap enough to have a punt on him. He is at Kyle Marshall’s getting broken in now,” Dickson said. View the full article
