Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted February 16, 2022 Journalists Share Posted February 16, 2022 By Joshua Smith, Harness News Desk Thank You is becoming a prime example of why there is a place for Central Districts harness racing. The gelding was previously winless before joining Rodney Dickson’s Marton barn, and the Love You seven-year-old recorded his fifth victory from his new home base at Manawatu Raceway on Tuesday. It was by chance that Dickson, who also leases the gelding, came about Thank You, and he is glad he did. “A friend of mine had a share in him when the Hopes were training him. They had come to the end of it and had decided to lease him out,” Dickson said. “He has certainly found his place in the Central Districts.” Dickson was pleased with Thank You’s win earlier this week and he believes he can put in a repeat performance from his 50m back mark in the Outback Trading Company Handicap Trot (2500m) at Manawatu Raceway on Thursday. “I was really happy with him. When he does things right he usually goes pretty well,” Dickson said. “He has come through the run pretty well, Ben (Butcher, driver) said he did it pretty easily on Tuesday. “It’s another 10m on Thursday, but it’s the same field, so if he does things the way he did on Tuesday then he would have to be a show again.” Dickson will also line-up Shezsomethinspecial in the Central Energy Trust Mobile Pace (2000m), and Maya Angelou and Letsgodancing in the Manawatu ITM Mobile Pace (2500m). “Shezsomethinspecial is just coming back to it. She is in-foal to Vincent and that was her third run back. I think she needed that run,” Dickson said. “She has drawn (2) to lead again, she made them go a bit. They went a 1:58 mile rate on the first day. “Letsgodancing is a nice horse, she has just been a bit unlucky with draws. “Mya Angelo is in the same race and she will have to do something to keep going. She is an honest horse that needs the right run. “She was going well and then I gave her a couple of runs on the grass and that didn’t seem to suit her.” View the full article
