Epicenter (c, 3, Not This Time–Silent Candy, by Candy Ride {Arg}), a close second after setting the pace in the GIII Lecomte S. Jan. 22, made every pole a winning one in Saturday's GII Risen Star S. at Fair Grounds.

The 7-2 chance, winner of last December's Gun Runner S. in New Orleans, was sent to the front beneath Joel Rosario and led the way through fractions of :23.79 and :47.97. Traveling nicely and letting it out a notch as they came for home, Epicenter was confidently handled down the stretch to win by a geared-down three lengths. Smile Happy (Runhappy) was second; Zandon (Upstart) was third.

The final time for 1 1/8 miles was 1:49.03.

Sales history: $260,000 yrl '20 KEESEP.

O-Winchell Thoroughbreds; B-Westwind Farms (Ky); T-Steve Asmussen.
