In a release posted to the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission website, state stewards have announced that Medina Spirit (Protonico), first under the wire in the 2021 GI Kentucky Derby, has been disqualified from the victory and all purse money forfeited owing to the presence of betamethasone in blood (Class C drug). In addition, the stewards have announced that trainer Bob Baffert has been suspended 90 days beginning Mar. 8, 2022 through June 5, 2022 (inclusive) and fined $7,500.
