Mishriff Draws Outside, Mandaloun Six in Saudi Cup

Defending winner Mishriff (Ire) (Make Believe {GB}) navigated a trip from post 12 to win last year's Saudi Cup, and the 5-year-old will have to come from even wider on Saturday, having landed in the extreme outside gate 14 during Wednesday's post position draw for the $20-million world's richest race. Juddmonte's Mandaloun (Into Mischief), who won the GIII Louisiana S. on Jan. 22 and was this week promoted to victory in last year's GI Kentucky Derby through the disqualification of the late Medina Spirit (Protonico), drew gate six. Mandaloun also won last year's GI Haskell Invitational S. through the disqualification of Hot Rod Charlie (Oxbow) due to interference, and thus Mandaloun looks to hit the wire in front in his first Grade/Group 1.
