Racing heads to the Bendigo Jockey Club on Tuesday afternoon, and HorseBetting.com.au’s Victorian racing analyst presents his best bets and free quaddie picks for the eight-part card. The track has come up a Good 4 and the rail is out 7m for the entire circuit, meaning it could prove to be advantageous to be up on speed. Racing is set to commence at 1:30pm AEDT at the ‘Nursery of Champions’.

Bendigo Best Bet: Whatafox

Our best of the day comes from the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace yard as Whatafox resumes from a four-month spell. It isn’t very often that we get a Group-placed galloper going around in maiden company midweek, Whatafox has achieved that in her short career and looks a near moral on Tuesday. She finished second in the Group 2 Fillies Classic on October 23 at Moonee Valley and beat home Heresy, who finished fourth in the Surround Stakes last Saturday. That type of form line is more than good enough for a Bendigo maiden. She has four runner-up placings to her name from five career starts, but this looks to be the day for Whatafox to break through.

Best BetRace 3 – Whatafox (#12) $1.85 with Ladbrokes

Next Best at Bendigo: Kermy

We were with the Phillip Stokes-trained Kermy at Ballarat on February 8 when she was beaten by subsequent Moonee Valley winner Zerelle in the shadows of the winning post. The four-year-old Kermadec gelding stays at 59.5kg with Sheridan Clarke on board claiming 3kg, and despite dropping back to the 1300m from the 1400m, he clearly looks like one of the best bets on the card. Clarke is widely regarded as one of the best front-running apprentices and from barrier four should have Kermy settled in an uncontested lead throughout. Kermy will make this a battle of the fittest, and considering this will be the fifth run of his campaign, he should prove too hard to run down in the second leg of the quaddie.

Next BestRace 6 – Kermy (#3) $6 with Sportsbet

Bendigo Value Bet: Cranky Sheriff

Call us crazy, but we are giving the Nathan Hobson-trained Cranky Sheriff more than half a chance in the third leg of the quaddie. The four-year-old Squamosa mare put a massive gap on her rivals in a 975m Swan Hill maiden, and despite not running a drum in nine starts until that day, we think she can go on with it here. With a majority of the main chances having gone around on Sunday at Bendigo, she looks well over the odds in this no matter the deductions. She’ll get back in the running, but in a field of seven she should not be too far from the speed throughout. Look for her to be running home late.

Best ValueRace 7 – Cranky Sheriff (#9) $34 with Neds
