UNIQUE BELLA (f, 4, Tapit–Unrivaled Belle, by Unbridled’s Song), the overwhelming 1-9 favorite to pick up where she left of after a comfy score over La Force (Ger) (Power {GB}) in the GI Beholder Mile June 2, held off that foe again here despite cutting it a bit closer than most might’ve expected. Straight to the front while facing almost no resistance, Unique Bella clicked off splits of :23.25, 46.80 and 1:11.56 in a very strung-out five-horse field. Mike Smith hadn’t asked Unique Bella for much as they hit the lane, and he never really seemed to, even as La Force came barreling towards the favorite in the late stages. Finding the line with room to spare, Unique Bella was about 3/4 of a length in front while stopping the clock in 1:44.40. Bernina Star (Harlan’s Holiday) rounded out the trifecta. Sales history: $400,000 yrl ’15 KEESEP. Lifetime Record: Ch. Female Sprinter, 12-9-2-0. Lifetime Record: 12-9-2-0.
