Jamie Kah’s big day at Flemington has continued with a win aboard Annavisto in the Group 3 Tressady Stakes (1400m).

After saluting aboard Crystal Pegasus two races prior, Kah again found herself in the winner’s stall after riding the Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr-trained favourite to a comfortable win.

Annavisto, the daughter to Reliable Man out of a Tavistock mare, went around at $4.60 in Ladbrokes betting in her first run back since the spring.

The four-year-old had won twice previously first-up, while she also ran a big race fresh at Caulfield last September, finishing half-a-length behind Turaath.

Kah rode her beautifully on Saturday, parking one-off the speed before presenting down the middle at the track at the 400m mark.

The pair sprinted quickly over the final furlong to gap Vespertine by two lengths, but co-trainer Mick Price admitted after the race that he wasn’t sure how she’d perform in her return.

It was a dominant win, I thought she might be a bit vulnerable first-up because she’s a mare that has taken a long time to furnish and hold weight, but now she holds weight she tends to spend a lot of nervous energy, but she needs to progress and win better Group races,” Price told Racing.com.

Some early afternoon showers only improved Annavisto’s chances as the mare had won three times previously on soft going.

Price said the slightly wet track was a key factor in her win, something he’ll also be hoping for if he chooses to line up in next week’s Group 1 Coolmore Classic at Rosehill.

“The thing about her is the toe in the ground. As soon as she feels the hard track she tends to jar up a little bit, but the rain here was beautiful for her,” Price said.
