The Stony Creek Racing Club is set to host their feature meeting of the year on a day where the Stony Creek Cup is set to be run on Sunday afternoon. Horsebetting’s Victorian form expert has found a few best bets on the card as we look to build on our wins from Flemington on Super Saturday. The track is rated a Good 4, with the rail in the true position and as always it will prove beneficial to be up on speed throughout the day.

The eight-race card is scheduled to commence at 12:35pm AEDT.

Stony Creek Cup Top Tip – Laundy

With one win and four runner-up performances to his name this campaign, the Stony Creek Cup looks the right race for the Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young-trained Laundy to find himself back in the winner’s stall. Having only gone down by narrow margins in his past two starts in town, the five-year-old Redwood gelding looks set to appreciate the drop back to a country level race. From barrier 12, Craig Newitt will have no other option but to roll forward, but with little early speed influencers in the race, Laundy looks set to gain an uncontested lead throughout. The step back to the 2100m should be no hinderance to his winning chances, as he has claimed a win at his only start at the trip. The $? on offer from online bookmakers looks a good price for him.

Next BestRace 7 – Laundy (#7) $3.50 with Ladbrokes

Best Bet at Stony Creek – Burleigh Boy

The Paul & Tracey Templeton-trained Burleigh Boy will look to bring up a first win that is ten months in the making having claimed his maiden win back in May 2021. He was outsprinted over 1450m at Kilmore on February 24 and prior to that finished fourth, beaten under a length at Hanging Rock over the 1600m. He is a natural front-runner and with 60kg on his back, Craig Newitt will look to make this a genuinely run mile throughout. With none of his rivals being on-pace runners, Burleigh Boy looks set to gain an uncontested lead in the final event of the day. If Froggy can get a cheap sectional or two, then Burleigh Boy looks too hard to run down in the last.

Best ValueRace 8 – Burleigh Boy (#1) $5 with Sportsbet
