Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted March 12, 2022 Journalists Posted March 12, 2022 Last term's GI Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint heroine and champion female sprinter Ce Ce (m, 6, Elusive Quality–Miss Houdini, by Belong to Me) returned to two turns in style with a game victory in Saturday's GII Azeri S. at Oaklawn. The 8-5 chance found a good spot in an outside fourth as favored Shedaresthedevil (Daredevil) set a comfortable pace. Ce Ce hit the gas on the far turn, gained command at the top of the stretch and held on gamely by a half-length over Pauline's Pearl (Tapit), who ran a remarkable race to finish second after getting pinched back at the start. Shedaresthedevil was third. The final time for 1 1/16 miles was 1:43.55. Ce Ce, winner of the 2020 GI Apple Blossom H. at Oaklawn, kicked off her 6-year-old campaign with a second-place finish as the favorite in the GII Santa Monica S. at Santa Anita Feb. 5. Lifetime Record: 18-9-2-3. O/B-Bo Hirsch LLC (Ky); T-Michael McCarthy.
