Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted March 17, 2022 Journalists Share Posted March 17, 2022 Star Godolphin youngster Anamoe has eased out to a bit of value but remains the clear favourite out to return to winning form in the Group 1 $700,000 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) this Slipper Day. Beaten Randwick Guineas favourite Anamoe is tipped to atone for the punters in the 2022 Rosehill Guineas this weekend. Photo: Steve Hart. James Cummings’ Street Boss colt was odds-on earlier in the week to win back the love of the punters but is out to around $2.05 in the latest Rosehill Guineas betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au. The spring’s Caulfield Guineas champ who was narrowly denied the Ladbrokes Cox Plate victory in the stewards’ room last prep is fourth-up and fit getting back to the 2000m for the first time since that devastatingly close defeat. Second-up this time in he won the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) here Rosehill before a last start loss at the hands of Converge in the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m). With the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained Randwick Guineas winner Converge officially withdrawn from the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) in favour of a rematch in the Rosehill Guineas, it is up to Anamoe to turn the tables. The money suggest he will with James McDonald in the saddle again, while smart Frankel gelding Converge jumps one on his inside for the rematch with Tim Clark continuing associations. No surprises to see Converge as the $3.60 second elect. Two other hopefuls are under $10 for an upset with the Richard Litt-trained Profondo ($5.50) and the Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young-trained Forgot You ($9). Hugh Bowman rides Profondo this year chasing his fourth Rosehill Guineas victory since 2013 and his first since D’Argento (2018). Lightly-raced having just his fifth start this weekend, the Deep Impact colt was excellent last time in winning the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) by two lengths at only his third assignment. Fresh a fortnight back in Melbourne he was disappointing on the straight track when 13th off a horror run to Hitotsu in the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m), but back in Sydney and up to 2000m should be finishing closer. Litt is confident Profondo can bounce back on Saturday ahead of likely future assignment in the Group 1 Australian Derby (2400m) during The Championships. “Hugh Bowman has had a couple of rides on the horse and he’s happy with him and we’re happy with him at home,” Litt told RS NewsWire this week. “We’re not too worried about the competition on Saturday, it is what it is. They’re all good horses and they’re all hard to beat. “We’re hoping to get the driest possible track for the horse because that’s what we think he prefers.” Rosehill is currently rated a Heavy (8). Savabeel colt Forgot You meanwhile will also appreciate getting out over the distance in the Rosehill Guineas having won the Group 2 Moonee Valley Vase (2040m) last October before a fifth to Hitotsu in the Group 1 VRC Derby (2500m). He makes his Sydney debut on Saturday off back-to-back Flemington fourths, the latest in the Australian Guineas, which looks a strong form line to follow heading north. The 2022 Rosehill Guineas is scheduled as Race 6 at 3:15pm (AEDT) on Saturday’s bumper 10-race Sydney race program.
