Japanese Classic winner SHAHRYAR (JPN) (Deep Impact {Jpn}-Dubai Majesty, by Essence of Dubai) stalked and pounced to take the $6-million G1 Dubai Sheema Classic on a banner night for Japanese racing. It was the Land of the Rising Sun's fifth winner on the card. Godolphin's Yibir (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) closed gamely out wide on the course, but had too much real estate to cover in the closing stages. Sunday Racing Co., Ltd.'s 4-year-old colt was trained by Hideaki Fujiwara.
