Winngate Stables LLC's KATHLEEN O. (f, 3, Upstart–Quaver, by Blame) launched her patented late rally to remain unbeaten as the overwhelming 1-2 favorite in Saturday's GII Gulfstream Park Oaks. The last-out GII Davona Dale S. heroine showed no speed early, but began to inch slightly closer down the backside in the slipstream of second choice Goddess of Fire (Mineshaft). She catapulted past foes on the second bend as Goddess of Fire took over, and while that foe was able to briefly ward her off under energetic encouragement heading into the lane, Kathleen O. blew past her in upper stretch and built up a three-length margin at the wire. She stopped the clock in 1:43.75. There was a double-digit chasm back to Running Legacy (Gun Runner) in third. Sales history: $8,000 wlg '19 KEENOV; $50,000 ylg '20 OBSOCT; $275,000 2yo '21 OBSAPR.
