Promising filly Victoria Roc (NZ) (Turn Me Loose) is set to continue her racing career in Australia.

The daughter of Turn Me Loose was impressive when winning by 3-3/4 lengths when on debut at Matamata last week for former trainer Jamie Richards, sealing the deal on her acquisition for trainers Anthony and Sam Freedman.

“We were fortunate to put a deal together with a client of the stable, and the previous owners have retained a share. We are looking forward to getting her to Melbourne,” Freedman Racing Manager Brad Taylor said.

“She trialled well in her three trials leading into her debut. She put in a very good performance on the track last week at Matamata.

“She looks like a promising filly that could hopefully measure up to stakes grade over here in Australia.

“She is in the paddock now in New Zealand before she comes over.”

She will be joined on her flight to Melbourne by another Freedman acquisition, a two-year-old Rageese filly who won her sole trial in New Zealand for trainers Shaune Ritchie and Colm Murray.

“We bought a Rageese filly off Windsor Park Stud. She was a trial winner at Te Rapa in February.

“We were lucky enough to acquire her and she is coming over on the plane in a couple of weeks with Victoria Roc.”

Taylor, an expat Kiwi himself, said the stable has enjoyed plenty of success souricing horses from New Zealand.

“We had a bit of success last year with Elusive Express running second in the Thousand Guineas (Gr.1, 1600m),” he said.

“It is always nice getting these horses into the stable and seeing whether they measure up.

“The New Zealand-breds have had a great couple of years here in Australia and the stable is always looking for those tried horses to match up in the good races over here.”
