A winning double on Day 2 of The Championships was enough for Nash Rawiller to win the 2022 Nathan Berry Medal.

Having finished Day 1 with four points thanks to finishing second in both the TJ Smith Stakes aboard Eduardo and in the Country Championships Final on Commando Hunt, Rawiller added a further six points to his tally on the final day with two victories.

After claiming the Provincial-Midway Championships Final early on in the program with Kinloch, Rawiller pulled out the “ride of the century” in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes later on in the afternoon to all but secure the his first Nathan Berry Medal.

“It’s something we take a lot of pride in trying to win,” Rawiller told Channel 7.

“There’s a lot of work behind it. I’ve really got to thank my manager Liam Prior and obviously the connections of the horses that have put me on throughout the last two weeks, but all in all it’s probably come down to Think It Over overcoming obstacles – which was the heavy track – to really run an unbelievable race today and get the money.

“It’s something I take a great deal of pride in.”
