The Gary Portelli-trained filly has already won the Golden Slipper (1200m) and ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) this autumn in emphatic style, and she now looks to have one hoof on a third Group 1 on Saturday, when she lines up as an odds on favourite with online bookmakers for the Champagne Stakes at Royal Randwick. Should the raging favourite salute on Saturday, Fireburn will be the first two-year-old filly to win the Triple Crown since Burst did in 1992 for Clarry Conners. 2022 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes In her way, just the six rivals. She’s Extreme has built an exciting rivalry with Fireburn – but the record stands at 0-3 – so she will be looking to turn the tables on the dual Group 1 winner as they meet over 1600m. Williamsburg has been impressive in winning his past two starts in Heavy conditions, with a tough win over Moko in his past two outings, including last Saturday in the Listed Fernhill Mile at this track and distance. Coming out of runs in the Sires’ is Let’srollthedeice (3rd), Counttheheadlights (5th) and Wealthy Investor (9th), while Skyphios comes off a fourth-placing on debut at Mornington on March 26. Fireburn is currently a dominant -200 favourite to take out a third-straight Group 1 and a sixth-straight victory, while She’s Extreme is on the second line of betting at $4.50 with online bookmakers. Rounding out those only runners in single figures is the Sires’ Produce third-placegetter and Fernhill Mile winner, both of whom are at $8 each. Racing NSW have extended the nominations for the Group 1 event until Tuesday, April 12 at 11:00am AEST.
